What to know about the Center for Medical Device Cybersecurity from the University of Minnesota:
- The Center for Medical Device Cybersecurity (CMDC) was formed, “…in response to a request from members of the medical device manufacturing industry to form a collaborative hub for discovery, outreach and workforce training in the emerging device security field.”
- The CMDC will develop new research, tech, education, and training to address potential cybersecurity threats against medical devices
- The CMDC is made possible thanks to funding from five U.S. health industry companies — Boston Scientific, Smiths Medical, Optum, Medtronic, and Abbott Laboratories
